  • Description

United States has joined many other countries in despatching urgently needed medical and relief supplies to Jordan in the wake of last week's fighting between guerrilla groups and the Jordanian army. One pro-Palestinian organisation in America, Palaid, has amassed several tons of clothing, medical supplies and blankets to be sent to Jordan this week.

The president of Palaid, Mr. Bibi Kalah, an architect, has said that while his organisation is pro-Palestinian, the relief items are to be distributed to all the victims of the fighting, estimated at more than 100-thousand. In addition to material aid, Palaid is also arranging for doctors and nurses to travel from the United States to Jordan under the relief programme.

The organisation has established 15 receiving points around the United States, and money and goods have been donated from a widespread cross-section of American people, including church groups.
