    THE ROLE TRADITIONALLY THAT OF THE MONARCH, WAS FILLED BY THE REGENT APPOINTED BY THE MILITARY JUNTA, LIEUTENANT GENERAL GEORGE ZOETAKIS.

    THE REGENT TOOK KING CONSTANTINE'S PALACE AT THE TRADITIONAL TE DEUM SERVICE AT ATHENS CATHEDRAL, ATTENDED BY THE GREEK PRIME MINISTER MR. GEORGE PAPADOPOULOS AND THE GREEK MILITARY GOVERNMENT.

    LATER, LIEUTENANT GENERAL ZOETAKIS REVIEWED A PARADE BY THE GREEK ARMED FORCES, WHICH INCLUDED ARMOURED UNITS EQUIPPED WITH MEDIUM AND LONG RANGE MISSILES.

    THE PARADE WAS WATCHED BY AN ESTIMATED SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND SPECTATORS.
