    M. Schumann first laid a wreath at the Cenotaph, before walking with Sir Alec to the Foreign Office to begin discussions.

    SYNOPSIS: The French Foreign Minister, M. Maurice Schumann, greeted British Foreign Secretary Sir Alec Douglas Home at the London Cenotaph on Thursday for his first officials function of the day. He placed a wreath on the memorial to commemorate Remembrance Day in Britain, honouring the dead on both world wars.

    M. Schumann's two-day visit to London was arranged for discussions with Sir Alec Douglas Home. They were later to talk about the prospects of a European security conference and points about the European Economic Community. Both men were also to talk on the international economic and monetary problems. In reviewing East-West relations, they were to discuss the date and venue of the proposed European security conference. The political organisation and purpose of an enlarged Common Market was also to be examined, along with prospects of a monetary union in the enlarged Community.
