Background: Tennis stars Chris Evert and John Lloyd are honeymooning in Europe after their much publicised wedding in Florida, in the United States. Chris Evert described the wedding at her home church -- on Tuesday (17 April) -- as the happiest day of her life.
SYNOPSIS: It was at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Fort Lauderdale that Britain's John Lloyd became the husband of America's sweetheart -- and the world's number one woman tennis player.
Chris Evert was dressed in a six thousand (U.S.) dollar (about GBP 3,000) lace gown and appeared clam throughout the ceremony.
The ceremony capped a ten-month romance, which began at Wimbledon in England last June. A host of tennis celebrities were in Fort Lauderdale for the wedding.
Among the well-wishers were Martina Navratilova, Rosie Casals, Vias Gerulaitis, Ilie Nastase, Tracy Austin and Evonne Cawley. But missing was former boyfriend Jimmy Connors. Six months ago he married a well-known Playboy model.
