BLAKEY: "The new year began for Brearly as the old one had finished."

COMMENTATOR: "And an a appeal he's got him. Maclean did well to take a very good catch low down, a magnificent breakthrough for the Australians."

BLAKEY: "So far in the series Randall's won his battle with the bowlers."

COMMENTATOR: "Hogg to Randall, Randall moving across, he's struck on the pad. There's no doubt about that I think it would have taken all three stumps out of the ground."

BLAKEY: "The unpopularity of Geoff Boycott extends apparently beyond the Yorkshire Committee room. But while he was there England were in with a chance."

COMMENTATOR: "Off spin, inside edge, he controlled that pretty well it'll run down into the fence for four."

BLAKEY: "Three batsmen fell to LBW decisions."

COMMENTATOR: "And it's in to Boycott and he's out."

BLAKEY: "David Gower refused to abandon his natural game of stroke play in the interests of staying at the crease."

COMMENTATOR: "Well he cracked that one a beautiful shot. It's racing out towards the boundary and I think that Border can give that one up."

BLAKEY: "With Boycott and Botham gone England's hopes rested on Gower."

COMMENTATOR: "Oh and this time, he's out. Gower leg before to Dymock."

BLAKEY: "England's chance of victory looked to have gone with the departure of Bobby Taylor."

COMMENTATOR: "And he's decided to touch that, and he's out."

BLAKEY: "Willis hung on until Rodney Hogg took the new ball."

COMMENTATOR: "And caught brilliantly by Yallop a magnificent catch by Yallop."

BLAKEY: "There were nine wickets in the match for Hogg who needed just one more for twenty seven in the series so far."

COMMENTATOR: "And bowled him, he's got five wickets. It's all over.

BLAKEY: "The two sides go to Sydney for the fourth test on Saturday and low-scoring captain Mike Brearly shows no signs of stepping down.

BREARLY: "I reckon you can consider a captain as an all rounder, that's the first thing. Not if you were to judge what I'm doing or anyone else in that department. Obviously I'd like to score some runs, anyone would. We've got a selection committee, we will talk about all aspects of the side, who's going to open the batting and everything. That's up to the selection committee but I'm fully intending to play."
