SYNOPSIS: Three thousand Pakistanis from all parts of Britain marched through London on Sunday in protest at what they called Indian aggression against Pakistan. As the war between India and Pakistan intensifies, the large Indian and Pakistani groups living in Britain find themselves in opposite camps. But this march went off peacefully.

The Muslims and Pakistanis in Britain describe India as a major threat to world peace, saying Indian aggression would plunge the Indian sub-continent and Asia into a bloodbath.

The Muslims in Britain have said repeatedly that their anger is not directed against the nationalism of so-called Bangle Dash. They say they do not object to legitimate criticism of the government of Pakistan. What they say they object to is the attempt by India to destroy the unity of the state of Pakistan, by force.

The demonstrators marched from Hyde Park's Speaker's Corner, traditional starting point for such marchers in London, to the Prime Minister's residence at Number Ten Downing Street.

There, the delegation presented a letter attacking India's role in the conflict. Other groups left similar letters at the Russian and Chinese embassies.
