    The Millinery Institute of Great Britain launched its 1970 Autumn/Winter collection at the Sonesta Tower Hotel Ballroom in London today (September 3) showing off what will be "tops" in headgear this coming season.

    More than 80 creations went on show encompassing every possible style of head covering from fur scarves, caps, berets and bonnets to stetsons, sombreros, bretons and turbans.

    A wide range of fabrics has been put to use to make the range with furs, snakeskin, jersey, velvet and felt being the most popular.

    Although the trend shown is towards a more sombre elegant line,trimmings of ostrich feathers, organza, buckles and beads were not spared on models for the woman who likes to add "an extra touch."
    SYNOPSIS: London's Sonesta Tower Hotel was the venue on Thursday for the launching of the Millinery Institute of Great Britain's 1970 Autumn/Winter collection, and it was back to the 1930's for this pull-on-style named "snowflake" in white wool with matching mittens and tasselled scarf. In white fox fur is "Bob Tail", a snowball of fur encircling the head and finished with a fur chinstrap. Appropriately named "Zeigfield" this picture hat of enormous proportions with upturned brimline trimmed with black ostrich feathers. And in black cossack fox is "Black Panther
    More than 80 creations went on show encompassing every possible style of headgear from scarves, caps, berets and bonnets to statsons, sombreros, bretons and turbans.

    "Glamour Girl" is a hat to turn all heads. An extravagant picture hat in deep purple velvet, the underbrim is lined with lilac velvet and the brimline stitched with an ostrich plume for added glamour.

    In black felt is "Bandilero". And for the "trendies" is "Outback" a stetson style trimmed with mock crocodile skin and giant gilt buckle.

    Red fox - the favourite in the fashion stakes for the past few winters - turns up in this exotic hat "Natasha"teamed with toning organza. Long ties complete the style with pom poms of red fox at the bottom.
