    SIR ABUBAKAR WAS MET AT THE AIRPORT BY THE NIGERIA HIGH COMMISSIONER, ALHAJI ABDULMALIKI. LATER, HE SPOKE TO REPORTERS.

    HE WAS ASKED WHAT HE CONSIDERED TO BE THE MOST IMPORTANT SUBJECTS TO BE DISCUSSED AT THE CONFERENCE. HE REPLIED: "FOR EXCITEMENT, PERHAPS THE SOUTHERN RHODESIAN PROBLEM."
    HE WENT ON: "BUT WHAT I WANT TO SEE COME OUT OF THE CONFERENCE IS THE COMMONWEALTH CLOSER TO BECOMING A PROPER FAMILY... I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE COMMONWEALTH REALLY MAKING IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE STABILITY OF PEACE IN THE WORLD. IF WE ALL LEAVE THIS CONFERENCE HAPPY THAT WE ARE ABLE TO AGREE ON BROAD PRINCIPLES AS TO WHAT WE CAN DO FOR FUTURE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF OUR COUNTRIES WE SHALL HAVE ACHIEVED QUITE A LOT."
    SIR ABUBAKAR SAID HE THOUGHT THAT THE COMMONWEALTH COUNTRIES SHOULD TRY TO PRESENT A UNITED VOICE IN WORLD AFFAIRS. "I WANT TO SEE US CLOSE TOGETHER, BUT THE NATURE OF INDEPENDENCE OF EACH COMMONWEALTH COUNTRY MUST BE MAINTAINED."
