Background: For the first time in history a forty-strong delegation from the Egyptian National Assembly arrived in Damascus today. The delegation is headed by Anwar Sadat, vice president of the Egyptian Parliament.
On arriving at Damascus airport the party went to the residence of Syrian President Shukri el Kuwatly.
The Egyptians have been greeted everywhere by children and grown-ups alike, with flowers - and pictures of Colonel Nasser himself.
The delegation are to visit a number of places of interest during their stay.
