  • Description

South Vietnamese prisoners of war released by the Viet Cong under the cease-fire agreement, are catching up on the "lost years" in captivity with their families and friends at rehabilitation centres.

The Commander of the South Vietnamese Fifth Infantry Division visited 300 newly-released men on Thursday (February 22) at a hospital camp near Bien Hoa.

Most of the men had been prisoners for more than five years. Many of them had been held in jungle areas of South Vietnam and the Khmer Republic.

At the camp, the men were sitting down to the first meal they had taken with their wives and friends for a number of years. Some of them were getting to know sons and daughters who were born while they were in captivity.
