    THE CEREMONY WAS HELD ON A HILL, OVERLOOKING THE SEA. MOURNING RELATIVES OF THE CREW MEMBERS ATTENDED, WITH THE PRIME MINISTER LEVI ESHKOL, THE DEFENCE MINISTER MOSHE DAYAN AND OTHER OFFICIALS. ALSO ATTENDING WAS THE COMMANDER OF BRITISH FORCES IN THE MIDDLE EAST, VICE AIR MARSHAL R.G. KNOTT.

    THE ELDEST SON OF ONE OF THE MISSING CREWMEN LIT A FLAME OF REMEMBRANCE TO BEGIN THE SERVICE. THE MILITARY CHIEF RABBI, RABBI COREN, CONDUCTED THE SERVICE.

    PRIME MINISTER ESHKOL IN AN ADDRESS, SAID THAT, WITH THE LOSS OF THE DAKAR, ISRAEL MUST STRENGTHEN EVEN MORE ITS SEA FORCES.

    DURING THE CEREMONY, THE CREW OF THE SUBMARINE, TANIN, LYING OFF-SHORE THREW WREATHS INTO THE SEA WHILE, NEARBY, THE FRIGATE, YAFO, FIRED A SALUTE.

    LATER, THE SUBMARINE, TANIN, RETURNED TO IT'S ANCHORAGE I HAIFA HARBOUR, BESIDE THE SISTER SUBMARINE TO THE DAKAR, THE DOLPHIN.
