Mrs. Lina Tsaldaris, Minister of Social Welfare, Mr. I. Psareas, Under-Secretary of Social Welfare, Mr. Penfield, U.S.Charge d'Affairs, United Nations High Commissioner Officials, World Council of Churches representatives, Church World Services people, journalists and other Government officials, attended this morning at the foundation stone ceremony of the new wing of the Public Mental Hospital of Daphni, an Athens suburb. The new wing will accommodate 100 patients, of whom 40 will be refugees from Iron Curtain within the mandate of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, who will provide the funds for a life-long care and maintenance. The total sum available will be sufficient to cover the building costs for the whole new wing which will be constructed by the World Council of Churches under an agreement with the Greek Reference, the High Commissioner for Refugees and United States Escapee Program. This project is part of the drive being undertaken by the Greek Government and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to close refugee camps in Greece.
