    Visnews cameras
followed Jan 22 the Russian Deputy Premier Mr. Mikoyan on his tour of the
Copenhagen shipyard of Burmeister and Wain, the owners of which marked the
occasion of Mr. Mikoyan's visit by announcing a new contract for the sale of the
designs of their latest highpowered diesel engines to Russia.

On a one-day stop-over in the Danish capital after his "private" holiday in the
United States and the near-disastrous flight from New York to Copenhagen, Mr.

Mikoyan seemed pleasantly surprised when shipyard director volunteer interpreter
Niels Munck, announced the deal. The Russian statesman cited this announcement
as demonstrating that "capitalist and communist firms can work in harmony
together." The shipyard workers (many are reported belonging to the Danish
Communister Party) cheered Mr. Mikoyan, who showed great interest in machinery
parts used in refrigerator ships, of which the firm has sold 25 to Russia since
1953. Some workers, however, deliberately turned their backs on the Russian
visitor, and carried on with their work as if he wasn't there.

Burmeister and Wain is the firm which four years ago cancelled plans to sell
tankers to Russia because of a protest to N.A.T.O. by the American Government
which said the tankers could be of "strategic importance" in the event of war
    with Russia.
