    The forthcoming conference on southern African problems, which opens in Mozambique later this month, will be a consolidation conference of the forces opposed to colonialism and racism in southern Africa, Tanzania's United Nations ambassador said on Monday (2 May). Mr Salim A. Salim, who's chairman of the U.N. Special Committee on decolonisation, was speaking to reporters at a news media briefing at the United Nations. The conference will be held in Mozambique's capital Maputo, beginning on May the 16th. One of the guest speakers will be the U.N.'s Secretary-General, Kurt Waldheim. Mr Salim discussed what he hoped the meeting will achieve.
