    THE FIRST SCHOOL TO BE BUILT UNDER THE NEW U.S. AID PROJECT FOR THAILAND CALLED "OPERATION MITRAPAB" WAS OPENED AT BAN YANG IN PRACHINBURI PROVINCE, 100 MILES EAST OF BANGKOK, ON JUNE 30.

    THE 300,000 BHAT SCHOOL HAS FACILITIES FOR SEVEN FULL GRADES FOR 320 STUDENTS. ALREADY ABOUT 200 STUDENTS FROM SIX VILLAGES ARE STUDYING IN FOUR GRADES.

    LT. COL. SIMMONS OF "OPERATION MITRAPAB" HANDED OVER THE BUILDING TO THE MINISTER FOR EDUCATION MR. PIN MALAKUL. AMONG THOSE PRESENT AT THE CEREMONY WERE THE U.S. AMBASSADOR MR. K. T. YOUNG.

    "OPERATION MITRAPAB" HOPES TO PROVIDE MORE RURAL SCHOOLS, ESPECIALLY IN THE NORTH EAST, DURING THE YEAR.

    ON JULY 1, THE KING OF THAILAND HIS MAJESTY BHUMIBOL ADULDEJ PRESIDED AT THE OPENING OF A NEW-FOUR STOREY BOY SCOUT CENTRE AT THE GROUNDS OF NATIONAL STADIUM IN BANGKOK.

    THE OPENING OF THE NEW H.Q. FOR SCOUTS COINCIDES WITH 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF SCOUT MOVEMENT IN THAILAND. CENTRE IS NAMED AFTER THE KING RAMA THE SIXTH FOUNDER OF SCOUT MOVEMENT IN THAILAND. KING BHUMIBOL WENT AROUND THE BUILDING AFTER THE OPENING AND VIEWED AN EXHIBITION OF WORK AT SCOUTS.
