    The home of Indonesia's Ambassador to Holland was held siege for twelve hours by 32 armed youths today (Monday). The young men, members of a separatist movement, held the Ambassador's wife and two children hostage and threatened to kill them unless their demands were met.

    The youths, armed with pistols and sten guns, stormed the Ambassador's residence in the Hague during the early hours of this morning, shooting dead a policeman in the process.

    The Ambassador, General Tawin Natadiningrat, escaped by jumping out of a window, but his wife and two daughters were trapped by the invaders.

    The men were all Amboinese separatists who are demanding independence for the South Molucca Islands. They announced that all hostages would be shot, one by one, unless their demands were met.

    After the invasion of the Ambassador's residence, Dutch Premier De Jong rushed to the scene and set up temporary headquarters in a nearby house,, accompanied by Foreign Secretary Dr. Luns.

    The siege ended tonight when the youths surrender to the police. All are now in custody, and the hostages are reported to be safe and well.

    President Suharto of Indonesia was to have left today for a visit to Holland. Tonight it was announced he'd postponed the trip for 24 hours.
