    TO GET THE ROPE INTO A POSITION TO HANG DOWN TO THE PAVEMENT IN THE AMERICAN SECTOR, THE FAMILY HAD TO BREAK THROUGH A WALL OF A SEALED HOUSE ON THE BORDER, THEN PIERCE A BRICKED-UP WINDOW WITHOUT AROUSING THE SUSPICIONS OF PATROLLING BORDER GUARDS.

    THE HOLES ARE NOW BRICKED UP AGAIN AND MORE HOUSES FACING WEST BERLIN STREETS ARE NOW BEING PULLED DOWN.
