    Dien Bien Phu in the northwestern part of Vietnam Democratic Republic, was the site where the French Expeditionary Force met its ignominious defeat at the hands of the Vietnam Peoples' Army 11 years ago. Dien Bien Phu stands as a symbol of the Vietnamese people's resistance against imperialist aggression.

    The diligent toil of the various nationalities of North Vietnam has turned vast tracts of the war-devastated land into flourishing fields.

    Dien Bien Phu is rich in mineral resource and the land is fertile. The people have become masters of the land since the victory over French aggression. Dien Bien Phu is now an agricultural base of the Republic.

    This is an area inhabited by the Thai and Miao national minorities. They, too, are leading a happy life under the leadership of President No Chi Minh.

    But U.S. imperialism insist on imposing a war on the people of North Vietnam. The are forced to take up arms again, this time, in the struggle to resist U.S. aggression for national salvation.

    11 years ago, the French Expeditionary force staked enormous military manpower and material hare but they could not escape the severe punishment by the Vietnamese people. French tasks and cannons destroyed by the people's forces then can still be seen in the fields.

    Today, one also sees the wreckage of many U.S. planes. The people's army and civilians of ten hold combat exercises here. A fate the same as their French predecessors awaits the U.S. imperialist aggressors should they dare to attack.

    This is Height Al where a company of the Vietnam people's forces held their positions for 35 days against 5 battalions of enemy troops in the battle of Dien Bien Phu
    Wrecked tanks from the French aggressors are now turned into air-defence positions for shooting down U.S. air bandits.

    A victory rally was held in Bien Hian ???hy on Sept. 22nd. to accept the mobile award banner from President Ho Chi Sinh.

    The county head of Dien Bien Phu makes a report on combat results.

    Military leaders in Dien Bien Phu call on the army and civilian population to units still closer and fight shoulder to shoulder.

    After the speeches, the mobile award banner was presented to the merited unit. Representatives of the armymen spoke of their revolve to carry forward and develop the glorious tradition of Dien Bien Phu and to fight U.S. imperialism to the very end - until its defeat.
