  • Description

An exciting finish - November 12 - to the 35th Brussels 6-day cycle race: with two hours to go, six 2-man teams were struggling for the first place. The six teams had dominated the race from the start, each taking the lead at different times.

The climax came in the final racing at the Palais des Sports, when the cyclists were paced by Derny motors. The Belgian team - Severijns and van Steenbergen, - and the French-Belgian team - van Looy and Darriagade a both made determined attacks to gain first place. But after keeping the lead throughout the last stages of the race, Schulte and Post, of Holland, went on to win.

Schulte was one of the winners in 1947, and van Steenbergen, who finished 2nd, has won the event six times in the past.
