  • Description

The United Nations General Assembly has declared that the Camp David accords between Egypt and Israel have no validity in determining the future of the Palestinian people. It was the first time the world body had dismissed the agreements in a vote. The Assembly rejected the provisions of the agreements which ignore or violate the inalienable rights of the Palestinian People, and also called for the Palestine Liberation Organisation to be included in future talks on the Middle-East. The developments came as the UN observed an International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

SYNOPSIS: One speaker to address the Assembly was Ambassador Youssef Mouhammed Arebi of the Libyan Jamahiriyah. He said the Palestinian people had to be part of any settlement negotiations.
