The Big Four Foreign Ministers accompanied by their chief advisers, met for lunch today -17th. July at M. Couve de Muville's villa in Geneva.
This was their first meeting since they decided to suspend the plenary sessions of the conference but continue working through private meetings.
Although it was hoped that this method would bring more success, today's meeting ended without progress.
In fact no progress is likely until agreement is reached on the organisation to be established to look into the Berlin problem. Russia has stated firmly her ideas on its form, but as yet, the Western powers have not announced any joint proposals.
The Foreign Ministers are due to meet again for lunch at Mr. Selwyn Lloyd's villa on Monday. There is to be a full session of the conference on Tuesday afternoon, July 21.
