  • Description

The fourth annual Racing and Sporting Motor-Cycle Show opened in London on Saturday (January 6). Although the show was built around the sporting aspect of motor-cycling, conventional road machines and accessories were also featured.

Most British manufacturers of motor-cycles and equipment were represented, as well as foreign machines. The show included bikes manufactured in Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, Russia, Czechoslovakia, Taiwan and Japan.

A new British motor-cycle, the four-cylinder Superstreak, made its first public appearance at the show. Manufactured by Kingston Racing Motors, the machine has an engine capacity of 350 cc. The new motor-cycle was exhibited to test public reaction, and if production goes ahead, it is expected to sell for around GBP2,000. The markers hope the new machine will challenge the domination of motor-cycle sport by the Italian M.V. Augusta.

Also at the show was M.V. August's 750 cc four-cylinder bike, the most expensive retail motor-cycle in the world at GBP2,300. Its claimed top speed is about 150 mph (225 kph).
