  • Description

"The Sunday Telegraph" - Britain's first new national Sunday newspaper for 40 years - made its first appearance on Feb 5. It is printed and published by the same company that produces "The Daily Telegraph".

Its aim : to fill (what its edit or calls) the sizeable gap between the various popular Sunday papers and the two "quality" journals "The Observer" and "The Sunday Times". The first issue ran 28 pages and was well supported by advertising.

While similar in many respects to "The Daily Telegraph", the new paper broke new ground in weekend journalism. Included in the first issue (over a million copies were printed) was an article on the capture of Adolf Eichmann.
