Background: On Friday (1 August) in Kampala, President Idi Amin of Uganda was married for the fifth time. His nineteen year-old bride, Sarah, was his co-driver in a car rally held to celebrate the opening of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) summit in the Ugandan capital.
The bride is also a member of the Revolutionary Suicide Mechanised unit of the Ugandan Army.
For Field Marshal Amin who is a Muslim it was his fifth marriage. He has had one other wife -- Madina -- since last year when he announced he had separated from three other wives.
The guests who attended a reception after the simple ceremony included Mr. Yasser Arafat, the leader of the Palestine Liberation Organisation, president Siad Barro of Somalia, President Jaafar ?? Nimeiry of the Sudan and other African leaders.
President Amin introduced his new bride, dressed in white, to newsman before they cut a three tier cake. They used the President's sword.
