  • Description

Cautiously predicting at least a moral victory for the Republicans, President Nixon cast his vote in the United States mid-term elections as soon as polling opened yesterday (Tuesday)
The President and his family were up before dawn in order to vote at the polling station nearest the Western White House in San Clemente, California.

In the campaign leading up to the election of senators, congressmen and governors, Mr. Nixon invested more of his personal prestige than any other President in recent history. Though he would make no specific predictions, Mr. Nixon hopes to cut the mid-term election losses traditionally suffered by the party in power.

After casting his vote, the President drove to the San Clemente fire station where he thanked firemen who put out a minor blaze at his home the previous Thursday.
