    AT THE STATE PALACE IN KUALA LUMPUR, THE MALAYSIAN CAPITAL, ON MAY 2 THREE NEW MINISTERS AND FOUR ASSISTANT MINISTERS WERE SWORN IN BY THE KING.

    PRESENT AT THE CEREMONY WERE THE PRIME MINISTER, TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN AND THE OTHER MEMBERS OF HIS CABINET.

    THE THREE NEW MINISTERS IN THE 16-MAN MALAYSIAN CABINET SWORN IN WERE: MR. KHAW KAI BOH (MINISTER FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND HOUSING); MR. V.MANICKAVASAGAM (MINISTER FOR LABOUR) AND MR. SENU BIN ABDUL RAHMAN (MINISTER FOR INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING).

    FOUR NEW MINISTRIES HAVE BEEN CREATED AND TWO OLD MINISTRIES -- THOSE OF INTERIOR AND INTERNAL SECURITY -- HAVE BEEN MERGED INTO ONE, TO BE KNOWN AS THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS.

    AFTER TAKING THEIR OATH, THE NEW MINISTERS HANDED THE OATH FORMS TO THE LORD PRESIDENT, DATO THOMPSON, WHO SIGNED THEM AS WITNESS.

    IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS, THE ENTIRE CABINET DROVE UP TO TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN'S RESIDENCE FOR A CLOSED DOOR MEETING TO FINALISE THE LINE-UP. THE MEETING LASTED THIRTY MINUTES.
