SYNOPSIS: Paris, early on Monday night....and despite the presence in and around the city of ten thousand police and security men as part of stringent security precautions to protect the visiting Soviet Party Chief, Leonid Breshnev, a protest on the Champs Elysee by young Rightist demonstrators provoked a chase through rush-hour traffic.
The two hundred young men of a group called "Ordre Nouveau" had begun to assemble along the Champs Elysee during the afternoon in readiness for their protest against the Soviet leader's visit. Squads of police were quick to give chase when the demonstration began.
Portable crowd barriers erected by the police were ignored by the demonstrators, many of whom made off through the traffic. They were eventually dispersed after several arrests.
