  • Description

65,000 Belgian war veterans and resistance workers paraded through Brussels November 29 in protest against an appeal to the Government for an amnesty embracing all wartime collaborators.

With flags and placards, and heeded by widows of resistance workers, the marchers assembled in the city's main square where speakers including the president of the association of resistance workers called for 'No' to any amnesty.

An appeal was made in Antwerp last month by a committee of sympathizers calling on the Government to release from prison all persons still serving sentences for unpatriotic acts during the German Occupation. The committee organized a mass rally to support the appeal - now countered by this demonstration in Brussels.
