    PRESIDENT HOUPHOUET-BOIGNY OF THE IVORY COAST IS ENDING HIS ONE WEEK OFFICIAL VISIT TO TUNISIA TODAY (MONDAY) WITH THE SIGNING OF CO-OPERATION AGREEMENTS IN TUNIS. THE IVORY COAST LEADER HAS TRAVELLED WIDELY IN TUNISIA IN THE PAST WEEK, AND THE PLACES HE VISITED HAVE INCLUDED SOUSSE, A TOWN ON THE GULF OF HAMMAMET RICH IN MOSAICS AND AN IMPORTANT PORT FOR EXPORT OF PHOSPHATE.

    THE TUNISIAN PEOPLE HAVE GIVEN THE IVORY COAST LEADER A ROUSING WELCOME WHEREVER HE'S BEEN. DURING THE WEEK HE SAID TUNISIA AND IVORY COAST MUST CO-OPERATE MORE CLOSELY IN TRADE AND PRESENT AN IMAGE OF SOLIDARITY TO THE INDUSTRIALISED NATIONS. AFRICA COULD NOT PROGRESS, HE SAID, UNLESS IT FIRST ACHIEVES INTERNAL PEACE.

    DURING HIS TOUR, PRESIDENT HOUPHOUET-BOIGNY HAS ALSO URGED AFRICAN STATES TO GIVE UP ONCE AND FOR ALL TRYING TO ACHIEVE LOFTY AND UNREALISTIC AIMS AND TO CONCENTRATE ON EXPLOITING THE COMMON INTERESTS THAT EXIST BETWEEN THEM.
