Background: The stern half of the 9,500-tons Swiss motor cargo vessel "Nyon", which was wrecked off the Scottish coast on 15th November, was towed into Rotterdam this morning -- Wednesday, 4th February. New bows are to built on to ship and it is hoped that she will be ready for sea again in July.

When the "Nyon" ran ashore in dense fog on the Meg Watson rocks, near St. Abbs Head, Scotland, Dutch tugs tried to tow her off but failed. Later, an attempt to cut off her bow, which was wedged in the rocks, was unsuccessful. Finally, on 25th November, 10 days after she was wrecked, the central and stern parts of the ship were separated from the bows by explosives and were towed to South Shields on the River Tyne.

From South Shields, three Dutch tugs, the "Noordzee", "Rode Zee" and "Blankenburg", with captain Van Dorp in command of the operation, set out with the "Nyon" in tow, stern first, on Sunday, 1st February, for the Hook of Holland. They arrived off the Hook in darkness last night and brought the "Nyon" up through the Nieuwe Waterweg (the New Waterway) to Rotterdam.
