SYNOPSIS: Mr. Boucetta, meeting President Ould Daddah, is Secretary General of the Moroccan Nationalist party. It was the first time that a party delegation has made an official visit to Nouakchott, Mauritania's capital. Mr. Boucetta held meetings with officials of the Mauritanian Peoples' party and then paid a visit to the interior of the desert country. Morocco and Mauritania divided the Western Sahara between them after Spain's colonial rule ended in 1976. The two countries have since been fighting the Polisario Front, which also claims the area, and which has launched raids against Moroccan and Mauritanian forces.
