A Hungarian Government delegation arrived in Syria on Tuesday (11 November) to hold talks with the Syrian Government. The Hungarian delegation was headed by Mr. Kally Giula.
The Hungarians first met with the Assistant Secretary General of the Baath Arab Socialist Party, Mr. Abdallah Al-Ahmer. The meeting was held at the headquarters of the National leadership of the Baath Arab Socialist Party.
Mr. Al-Ahmer told the Hungarian delegation of the role of Syria in the Middle East situation and of the "sacrifices of the Syrian people in their struggle against Zionism". Mr. Giula was also told of the events that led up to and concluded the Middle East was in October 1973.
Mr. Giula told the Syrians of the "achievements of the Hungarian people in pursuing the course of socialism". He also pointed out to the meeting that the recent Sinai agreement was a "stumbling stone to peace" and asserted Hungary's support for the "Syrian struggle".
