  • Description

Earlier this week the pull-out of South Korean troops in S. Vietnam was announced.

South Korean President Park Chung-Iee said on Wednesday that South Korean would immediately start withdrawing its 38,000 strong contingent in South Vietnam following the conclusion of a peace agreement.

President Park also said that South Korea would offer all possible co-operation to South Vietnam in its post-war rehabilitation.

The President noted that South Korea troops in South Vietnam at one time totalled 48,000 officers and men and had served there since 1965 to help South Vietnam defend its freedom and independence.

President Park welcomed the peace accord and expressed the hope that the ceasefire would lead to a lasting peace in Vietnam.
