Background: Despite the Middle East cease-fire Israeli Defence Forces continue rigorous training, including parachuting.

The Paratroop corp is considered one of the elite units and the training is tough and exacting. But regardless of this there is no shortage of applications for paratroop training.

Members of the Paratroop Corps are not the only ones to undergo the training. There are volunteers from other units, and every officer who wants to reach the rank of major or above must win his parachutist's wings to get promotion.

And there are others, including girls, who like to make the parachute jumps more for the enjoyment, and who are given permission, to jump as a privilege, or reward for outstanding service.

More and more girls are earning their wings in one of the toughest areas of military training.

But while it may be fun for many of them, there is a very serious side to the training....Israel wants a highly trained army that is able to move quickly and penetrate any area, and in a war the paratroopers would play one of the key attacking roles.
