Background: The African, Malagasy and Mauritian Common Organisation (OCAMM) began a meeting in Lome, the capital of Togo. last week to discuss the social security of migrant workers.
The meeting is scheduled to study how to guarantee and ensure, within the framework of member nations' legislation, the rights of migrant workers to such things as family allowances, insurance against accident and illness. The pensions of migrant workers is also being discussed.
Among speakers at the meeting was M. Bartelemy Lambony, the Togolese Labour and Civil Service Minister, who opened the conference.
The meeting, which will last until October 28, includes delegates from all member states except Madagascar and Mauritius.
