    In a fierce gun battle, 22-year-old William Coyle was shot dead by police with sub-machines guns. His 24-year-old brother John surrendered and was arrested.

    After holding up a supermarket and killing a Philadelphia policeman the Coyle or others were on the run for ten days in a stolen car with owner William Sedgewick kept as a hostage in the luggage boot,
    Then they decided to hide in the woods near Middleboro, Massachusetts, where they slept in an abandoned house. For more than 48 hours the area was combed by search partes with bloodhounds and a helicopter until the fugitives' hide-out bloodhounds and a helicopter until the fugitives' hide-out was detected and the manhunt came to a violent end in the roar of guns.
