Background: The United States took a further step towards recognition of the Greek military regime when the Greek Prime Minister, Mr. Papadopoulos, and other Ministers were invited aboard the aircraft-carrier, "Franklin D. Roosevelt" yesterday (Thursday). The 55,000 ton carrier, flagship of the U.S. Sixth Fleet, is in Phaleron Bay, on goodwill visit.
Mr. Papadopoulos' party also included the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Pattakos, and the Minister for Economic Co-ordination, Mr. Makarezos. They were greeted by Rear Admiral V.G. Lambert, Commander of the 6th Division of the U.S. 6th Fleet. The party then left for a three-hour tour in the Gulf of Saronikos aboard the carrier.
