Background: A significant meeting of accounting and statistical experts from with in the countries forming the O.C.A.M. grouping --- the Afro/Malagasy Common Organisation-- has today (Wednesday) closed in Abidjan.
The meeting, which opened on Monday (July 20) was called to discuss the problems of standardising accounting and statistical procedures O.C.A.M. member nations and the organisation itself. In addition, the director of the Central Bureau of Statistics in Accra represented Ghana as an official observer.
The director of the Niger Statistical Service, M. Jacques Adehossi, was elected chairman of the conference.
Because of the technical nature of the discussions there was a strong representation of experts concerned with the mechanical aspects of accounting and statistics---computers, tabulators, accounting machines and comptometers.
The first session of the conference was devoted to the standardisation of accounting and statistical information concerned with external trade in the organisation.
