  • Description

China this week turned a state visit by Sudan's President Jaafar Mohamed Nimeiri into a blazing attack on Soviet strategy in Africa.

The President Nimeiri, who arrived on Monday for a week long official visit, was given a red carpet reception at Peking Airport. He was met by an unusually large delegation headed by Chairman Hua Kuo-Feng and Senior Vice-Premier Li Hsien-Nien. The customary squads of flower-waving, dancing girls welcomed his arrival at tarmac.

Nimeiri, leading a large government delegation, including Foreign Minister Mansour Khaled and six other ministers, will talk in Peking on relations between the two countries and world security in general.

President Nimeiri denounced the new Ethiopian regime and expressed his support for the Eritrean people's struggle for self-determination during an official banquet given by Vice-Premier Li in Peking's Great Hall of the People.

Mr. Li warmly congratulated the Sudanese Government for expelling Soviet Military experts and diplomats last month and violently attacked the Soviet Union for its "perverse action" of "aggression and expansion."
