    Argentineans marked the 20th anniversary of Eva Peron--second wife of exiled former President Juan Peron--on Wednesday (26 July) with demonstrations in the streets--and a wave of bomb attacks in the capital and provincial towns.

    Popularly known as "Evita", Eva Peron died of cancer at the age of 32. But she is still revered by millions of working class Argentines for her efforts to improve their conditions in the early part of her husband's rule from 1946 to 1955.

    Peronist supporters flocked to the family mausoleum in Buenos Aires. Crowds danced, sang and carried torches and banners through the streets. Later, there were memorial processions in several cities.

    Dozens of masses were held an posters reading "Evita lives" were plastered all over the city.
