Background: Tonight Manuel Benitez, known as "El Cordobes" (The Man from Cordoba), made a magnificent come back in the bullring at Marbella, on Spain's Costa del Sol.

It is just three weeks since "El Cordobes" in his first appearance before a Madrid crowd, was badly gored.

Cordobes, also known as "The Beatle of the Bullring" because of his bushy hair which flops over his forehead, fought two bulls tonight before an estimated crowd of more than 9,000 people, for his first bull, when the bulls horn just caught his blue "suit of lights" and briefly tossed him to the ground, he quickly recovered and killed the bull quickly and cleanly, and was awarded two ears.

His second bull, the last of the evening, he had the crowd standing on their feet for his daring, and with his unorthodox style, for which he is famed and some say is the best bullfighter of all time, he was awarded two ears and the tail. The crowd went mad, and thousands of cushions and hats, shoes and wine bottles were hurled into the ring.

This was the first fight to be fought in Marbella's new bullring, and many people say the best of any ever before.
