    HUNDREDS OF COLLEGE STUDENTS SWARMED INTO WASHINGTON, U.S.A., FEB 16 FOR A MASSIVE DEMONSTRATION IN FRONT OF THE WHITE HOUSE AND ON CAPITOL HILL AGAINST ATMOSPHERIC NUCLEAR TESTING BY AMERICA OR RUSSIA.ORGANISED BY A MOVEMENT CALLED "STUDENT ACTION FOR A TURN TOWARD PEACE," THE STUDENTS ARRIVED BY CAR, PLANE, BUS AND TRAIN, AND WERE ARMED WITH PLACARDS AND LITERATURE.

    SPONSORS SAID THERE WOULD BE MORE THAN 3,000 PICKETS IN WASHINGTON BY THE FOLLOWING DAY, WHEN A RALLY WAS TO BE STAGED.THEY SAID IT WOULD BE THE MOST MASSIVE WHITE HOUSE PICKETING IN 20 YEARS.THE SOVIET EMBASSY WAS ALSO PICKETED BY YOUTHS CARRYING SLOGANS SUCH AS "EVERY TEST KILLS", "WE CONDEMN BOTH SOVIET AND U.S.TESTING," AND "JOIN US IN FREE DISCUSSIONS OF COLD WAR ISSUES."
    IN ADDITION TO PICKETING THE WHITE HOUSE AND THE SOVIET EMBASSY, LEADER SAID, THE STUDENTS WOULD SEE AT LEAST 300 CONGRESSMEN, OR THEIR ASSISTANTS, AND 36 SENATORS.THEY ALSO ARRANGED APPOINTMENTS AT A NUMBER OF EMBASSIES, INCLUDING THE SOVIET UNION, AND WITH STATE AND DEFENCE DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS.THEY ALSO ARRANGED FOR A DELEGATION TO SEE ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION CHAIRMAN GLENN T.SEABORG.
