Background: A LINER SAILED INTO SYDNEY HARBOUR, AUSTRALIA, ON MAY 14 WITH A FAMILIAR OUTLINE, BUT WITH A NAME THAT'S NOT FAMILIAR. SHE'S THE ORIENTAL QUEEN -- THE FORMER AUSTRALIAN SHIP KANIMBLA NOW FLYING THE JAPANESE FLAG.

AMONG THE PASSENGERS WAS EIGHTY-YEAR-OLD MRS. YOKOI, MOTHER OF THE SHIPPING LINE'S PRESIDENT, WHO WAS ACCOMPANIED ON THE VOYAGE BY HER SPIRITUAL ADVISER.

THE ORIENTAL QUEEN, ONCE AN AUSTRALIAN COASTAL VESSEL, BECAME THE FIRST JAPANESE PASSENGER SHIP TO ENTER SYDNEY IN 25 YEARS. SHE CARRIED A GROUP OF TOURISTS.
