    Outgoing United States Treasury Secretary John Connally arrived at Buenos Aires' Ezeiza International Airport on Saturday (10 June). Mr. Connally was making a two-day visit to Argentina -- the fourth leg of his world tour as a special envoy of President Nixon.

    Mr. Connally, accompanied by his wife, was greeted by American Ambassador Lodge and embassy and government officials.

    He told newsmen in the airport press room that he had "no further political ambitions". He said that when his world tour was over, he intended to retire, "hopefully to private life".

    He smiled when was asked to comment on reports that President Nixon may choose him as Vice-Presidential running mate in the November elections, and said "I have no further political ambitions."
    SYNOPSIS: An American Air Force jet brought a distinguished visitor to Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport on Saturday. Outgoing American Treasury Secretary John Connally arrived to make a two-day visit to Argentina. The visit marked the fourth leg of Mr. Connally's world tour as a special envoy of President Nixon. Mr. Connally was accompanied by his wife when he arrived in Buenos Aires. The Treasury Secretary was greeted by American Ambassador Lodge, who's wearing a white raincoat, and embassy and government officials.

    Strong security measures were evident as Mr. Connally made his way across the airport.

    Then Mr. Connally and Mr. Lodge entered the airport press room to answer reporters' questions.

    The newsmen asked Mr. Connally about his future political plans. But he told them he had no further political ambitions.

    He told reporters that when his world tour was over, he intended to retire, hopefully - as he put it - to private life. He smiled when asked to comment on reports that President Nixon may choose him as Vice-Presidential running mete for the November elections, and said held no further ambitions in politics.
