  • Description

Japan's motor industry in flourishing: since the war the product of new models has assumed fantastic proportions compared with their practically non-existent home production in the 1930's.

And now, close on the heels of the middle-class-market line of product, comes the first Japanese 'people car'--the Nissan Automobile Company's Datsun.

With an engine capacity of 988cc - the size of Britain's Austin A35 and Morris Minor '1,000' - the Datsun sells at approximately GBP590.

Apart from the four-seater family saloon, the Datsun comes in a fibre-glass bodied sports version and a light truck capable of carrying just over one ton.

The saloon version has a cruising speed of around 60mph.
