Background: VISNEWS June 3 in Washington, USA, filmed a Council meeting of the Organisation of American States, called together hastily to discuss Nicaragua's appeal for help in dealing with a small-scale Invasion.
American representative John Drier said his country would vote in favour of an investigation. "It seems clear that the inviolability of the territory of Nicaragua has been affected by the illegal entry of aircraft carrying armed men which came from a neighbouring country."
Two aircraft, carrying armed men, were reported to have flown over Nicaragua from neighbouring Costa Rica. The Nicaraguan Air Force claims to have shot one of them down.
Latest reports from San Jose, Costa Rica; "Nicaraguan Rebel Radio, claiming to be transmitting form somewhere in the mountains of Nicaragua, claimed, June 4, its forces had taken the village of Wiwili in Northern Nicaragua."
A rebel fleet is reported enroute from Cuba, and the Nicaraguan Air Force has been instructed to attack any unidentified vessels off its coastline.
