Background: The United States National Park Service will this year ban motor vehicles from many roads in the famous Yosemite National Park. The measure is being taken in an effort to reduce pollution in a park that is being visited by an increasing number of tourists each year.

On roads closed to private motorists, the Park Service is to provide free bus transport--starting from a central parking lot where visitors can leave their cars.

In a further effort to reduce pollution the Service is also converting all its own vehicles at yosemite to natural gas.
