  • Description

Britain's Secretary of State for Commonwealth relations, Duncan Sandys, arrived in Kuala Lumpur Jan 13 for talks with Malayan leaders on disarmament and other world problems. At the Kuala Lumpur airport Mr. Sandys, who had earlier visited India and Pakistan, was received by Malayan officials and British Commonwealth diplomats.

He told a news conference that disarmament would be the main topic of discussion at the Commonwealth Prime Ministers' Conference in March. His discussions with Commonwealth leaders are aimed at evolving a "Common Approach" to the disarmament problem.

Later, he called on malayan Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman and had talks with him. It was understood that the two leaders discussed the situation in South-East Asia with particular reference the recent developments in Laos, apart from other subjects.

During his three-day visit Mr. Sandys will be received in audience by Malaya's Paramount Ruler.
