Background: The British Post Office Corporation has displayed a new set of postage stamps to mark Britain's entry to the European Economic Community (EEC) in January next year (1973). The stamps, the designs of which were chosen after a competition among artists, show a symbolic pattern of nine interlocking 'jigsaw-puzzle' pieces representing the enlarged Common Market.

They went on display in Post Office headquarters in London on Tuesday (December 5).
