    A NEW NATIONAL TECHNICAL TRAINING CENTRE WAS OPENED IN LOME LAST FRIDAY (31 OCT.) BY THE TOGOLESE MINISTER OF LABOUR MR. BARTHELEMY LAMBONY.

    THE NEW SCHOOL, BUILT WITH THE HELP OF THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT AND THE UNITED NATIONS, CONTAINS WORKING MODELS OF ENGINES AND OTHER EQUIPMENT MUCH OF WHICH HAS BUILT BY TOGOLESE TECHNICIANS THEMSELVES. AMONG THE SPECIALIST SUBJECTS DEALT WITH AT THE CENTRE ARE GENERAL MECHANICS, ELECTRICITY, AND MOTOR MECHANICS.

    DURING THE OPENING CEREMONIES THE DIRECTOR OF THE CENTRE, MR. CHARLES BRENNER, OUTLINED FOR THE AUDIENCE THE HISTORY OF THE CENTRE AND SPOKE ABOUT SOME OF THE PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED IN BUILDING IT UP TO ITS PRESENT SIZE.

    THE CENTRE IS NOW WORTH MORE THAN 118,500,000 CFA AND WILL GO A LONG WAY TO HELP TO PROVIDE TRAINED PERSONNEL FOR TOGO'S FUTURE EXPANSION.
